The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) is fast-tracking an education campaign and releasing a range of safety tools that will assist heavy vehicle operators to implement Safety Management Systems and meet new Chain of Responsibility (CoR) laws, which will be introduced mid-2018.
The push to provide operators with practical tools and guidance is in response to a spate of serious heavy vehicle crashes that occurred in January this year. The new laws require the entire heavy vehicle supply chain to take responsibility for heavy vehicle safety.
